IMMORTAL MUSCLE
Holden’s Commodore has proven to be The General’s most successful and most enduring touring car racer of all time, with an unbroken competition history spanning three decades and a multitude of ATCC/V8 Supercar titles and Bathurst 1000 wins. To celebrate the Commodore’s 30th anniversary in touring car racing, AMC turns back the clock to where it all began.
MEMORABLE MUSCLE RACER
To most Aussie race fans, Kevin Bartlett was the courageous, tough-as-nails steerer of the ‘Nine Sports’ Camaro during the early ‘80s touring car era. However, in Kevin’s mind, he was always a died-in-the-wool open-wheeler man. In this first chapter of a revealing two-part profile, ‘KB’ sets the record straight on a fast and often fearful career.
CLASSIC SPEEDWAY MUSCLE
During the mid-1970s, Claremont Speedway in Perth was heaven on earth for West Coast motor sport fans. It was during this glorious period that ‘Production Car’ racing was at its peak, attracting huge fields of Aussie and US muscle and three-wide racing that was the envy of East Coast fans. Sadly, this brilliant era was all too brief.
DIRTY MUSCLE
Although the amazing 1-2-3 result for Holden’s Commodore team in the 1979 Repco Round Australia Trial has been well documented, Ford’s ill-fated attempt to win the event has been largely ignored - until now. In this second and final chapter, we explain how the whole Ford attack literally fell apart, after team leader Bond had led the field by 10 minutes into Perth.
Plus in this issue – Muscle Stuff, Classic Quarter Mile Muscle, Mini Muscle and of course our M.I.A. Muscle.
